Griffin changes jobs at OSU

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Archie Griffin is stepping down as head of the Ohio State University alumni relations office.

Griffin, president and CEO of the Ohio State Alumni Association and senior vice president for alumni relations, is becoming a senior adviser within the university’s Office of Advancement.

“Earlier this year, he shared that he was ready to transition to a part-time role and that the Alumni Association was well positioned for a new leader,” Michael Eicher, senior vice president for advancement, said in a statement.

College football’s only two-time Heisman Trophy winner says the move allows him to work for the university part-time while spending more time with his family.

“Today, I am excited and look forward to continuing to do the work I love for the university on a part-time basis while affording me more time to spend with Bonita, our family and friends,” Griffin said.

He led the alumni group since 2004, following 20 years in the school’s athletic department.

Griffin, 60, graduated in 1976 after being recognized as college football’s top player in 1974 and 1975.

Griffin will address more than 10,000 graduates at commencement May 10. One of those grads is Griffin’s son, Adam.
