Grisly discovery

COLUMBUS, Ohio – There are still more questions than answers in the mystery surrounding the death of a man whose decomposing remains were found inside a Franklinton rooming house Thursday morning.

Police say the owner of the three-bedroom rental home at 444 Holton Avenue and a maintenance person were at the house for a routine check late yesterday when they smelled something odd and noticed what they reportedly thought was a body part, but turned out to be a badly-decomposed body.

According to a release from the Homicide Unit, investigators consider the death “very suspicious” and are treating it as a homicide, but an autopsy will be necessary to determine the cause of death.

A police spokeswoman says one person at the three-bedroom property was taken in for questioning, but no suspects had been named early Friday morning.
