SPRINGFIELD (AP) – Police say a charred body found in the wreckage of a car fire in western Ohio earlier this month was that of a 29-year-old Grove City man.
The Clark County Sheriff’s Office says the coroner identified the victim as Daryl Best, who had suffered multiple injuries, though it wasn’t clear when. A motive for the slaying hasn’t been determined, and no arrests have been made.
Bethel Township firefighters were alerted to the blaze just after 2 a.m. Sept. 7 when a passing motorist noticed smoke in the area near I-70.
Officials say fire crews arrived on scene and found a vehicle parked behind a tree fully engulfed in flames.
