COLUMBUS – A 76-year-old Groveport man was killed when his pickup was struck head-on by tractor-trailer in Hamilton Township Tuesday morning.
Floyd Coyer was driving eastbound on London-Groveport Road east of Parsons Avenue just after 11:35 a.m. when his 2015 Chevrolet Colorado was hit by a tractor-trailer that crossed the center line to avoid stopped traffic, Sheriff Dallas Baldwin said.
Anthony Dudley, 40, of Ragland, Ga., was driving the Volvo tractor-trailer westbound on London-Groveport Road when he came upon slowed or stopped traffic and tried to stop, veering across the center line and striking Coyer’s vehicle, which spun several times and struck an SUV and a dump truck, Baldwin said.
Coyer was pronounced dead just after noon at Grant Medical Center. None of the other drivers was injured.
Baldwin says it appears neither Coyer or Dudley were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash and it does not appear as though alcohol or drugs were a factor in this accident, which is still under investigation.
