Historic Buxton Inn damaged in kitchen fire

GRANVILLE – The owners of the historic Buxton Inn say the hotel and restaurant in Granville will remain closed for at least three weeks after a kitchen fire broke out yesterday morning.

The Inn’s Facebook page says the fire was contained to the kitchen with some smoke damage to a few rooms in the building and there were no injuries.

“Moving forward, we will have a large clean-up effort and remain closed for at least three weeks. We are unsure of an exact re-opening date at this time but will share more as we further assess the damages and our plans moving forward,” the business owners and management posted on their social media page.

The Granville Township Fire Department reportedly said the fire broke out around 8:30 a.m. and was extinguished after about 90 minutes.

The Buxton Inn was built in 1812.
