Holiday traffic fatalities drop 30%

COLUMBUS – The Ohio State Highway Patrol says 16 people were killed on the state’s roadways over the July Fourth holiday from Friday to Monday.

That’s an improvement over last year, when 23 people died in traffic accidents.

Drug or alcohol impairment was determined to be a factor in four of the 16 fatal crashes, one-third as many as in 2021, Patrol Sgt. Bruce Nihiser said.
