COLUMBUS – The residential real estate market in central Ohio continued to struggle with a supply problem, though home sales are still on a record pace for the year.
Sales in September were a 4.4 percent lower than a year ago but the Columbus area market is still on pace for a record year, according to the Columbus Board of Realtors.
Data released by the board Friday morning indicated there was a 2.5 percent uptick in the number of homes listed for sale in September but the inventory of homes for sale was 11.1 percent lower than a year ago, which maintained upward pressure on prices.
The median sale price was $180,000, up 5.3 percent from last year, and homes spent an average of 29 days on the market, six days fewer than in 2016.
Home sales nationall rose 0.7 percent in September, as the Houston market, crippled by Hurricane Harvey and the subsequent flooding, quickly recovered.
