Homeowners premiums 6th-lowest in US

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohioans continue to pay some of the lowest homeowners’ insurance premiums in the nation.

For the second year in a row, homeowners’ insurance premiums in Ohio were the sixth lowest in the U.S., Lt. Gov. and Department of Insurance Director Mary Taylor said.

Ohioans paid on average $652 per year, compared with the national average premium of $968, according to 2011 data, the most recent available from the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, Taylor said.
