COLUMBUS – A long-term road project getting underway this weekend could ease traffic congestion into and out of Grove City on I-71.
The Ohio Department of Transportation is adding a third lane to the interstate in each direction between State Route 665 and Stringtown Road and will start shifting traffic between 8:00 p.m. Friday and 5:00 a.m. Saturday so two lanes can be maintained during the $37 million project, which is expected be completed in the summer of 2017, ODOT officials say.
Crews installed temporary pavement in both directions last weekend and will now shift southbound traffic over to the outside lanes to give crews room to work in the median. ODOT spokeswoman Nancy Burton says the number of lanes won’t change but drivers will see a new configuration.
Northbound traffic will be shifted later this month, said Burton.
