COLUMBUS – Eric Wood’s three-run homer was the highlight of a five-run 6th inning that vaulted the Indianapolis Indians to a 12-7 win over the Clippers in the finale of a three-game weekend series.
Wood’s blast to left field came off Jack Leathersich, who relieved Cole Sulser (1-1), who took the loss. The Clippers would eventually send seven pitchers to the mound in a futile effort to stem a 19-hit onslaught by the home team.
Casey Sadler (2-2) got the win in relief for the Indians after the Clippers touched starter Austin Coley for seven runs on six hits in the first four innings, including a grand slam by Adam Rosales in the fourth.
The Clippers have Monday off before beginning a 10-game homestand, starting with Gwinnett Tuesday night at 6:35 p.m.
