COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Indians’ Casey Sadler won a pitcher’s duel with Gabriel Arias of Columbus in a 2-1 Indianapolis victory in the opening game of a three-game series on Thursday night at Victory Field.
Clinging to a 1-0 lead in the fourth, Jaff Decker knocked in what proved to be the game winning run with a two-out double off Arias (6-4) to left that scored Andrew Lambo from second.
Sadler (11-4) limited the International League West champion Clippers to just one single and an Elliot Johnson solo homer.
Game two of the series is Friday night at 7:15 p.m.
