Indians 3, Clippers 1

COLUMBUS – A 3-1 loss to Indianapolis Wednesday night dropped the Clippers back into a tie with the Indians for first place in the International League West Division.

The loss snapped a 10-game home winnings streak but Columbus can regain the division lead by earning a split of the four-game series with a win during a day game Thursday.

The Indians jumped out to a 3-0 lead on the strength of RBI singles by Steve Lombardozzi Jr. and Keon Broxton in the bottom of the third inning.

Michael Martinez scored for the Clippers with two outs in the ninth, helped by defensive miscues, but Blake Wood got Zach Walters to ground out with a runner on base to end the game.

Will Roberts (2-2) gave up three runs in seven innings to take the loss.

The Clippers travel to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre for a three game series starting Friday.
