Indians 5, Clippers 4

COLUMBUS – The Clippers stranded 14 baserunners on the way to a 5-4 loss to the Indianapolis Indians Sunday afternoon at Huntington Park.

Trailing 5-3 in the ninth, Richie Shaffer belted a two-out, two-run shot off Dovydas Neverauskas to make it 5-4 but Neverauskas struck out Nellie Rodriguez to strand the tying and go-ahead runs on the bases.

Adam Plutko (0-5) took the loss for the Clipers, who dropped two games of the three-game series after Friday’s opener was rained out and now travel to Durham and Gwinnett for a seven-game southern road swing.
