Indians 9, Rangers 8 (11)

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Edwin Encarnacion hit an RBI single in the 11th inning to lift the Indians to a 9-8 win over the Texas Rangers.

The temperature was 107 degrees for the first pitch, the highest temperature ever at the start of a game at the ballpark.

The AL Central-leading Indians debuted their two new relievers.

All-Star closer Brad Hand and rookie sidearmer Adam Cimber joined the Indians after being traded from the last-place San Diego Padres.

Jose Ramirez, who earlier in the game hit his MLB-best 30th homer, led off the 11th against Matt Moore (1-6) with a double off the right-center field wall.

He came home when Encarnacion singled to right.
