CLEVELAND (AP) — Roberto Pérez hit a solo homer in the seventh inning to drive in the go-ahead run and and the Indians rallied to defeat the Minnesota Twins 9-7.
Cleveland used seven relief pitchers after announcing scheduled starter Carlos Carrasco will be sidelined indefinitely because of a recently diagnosed blood condition.
The team says Carrasco had been feeling lethargic for several weeks.
The Indians placed him on the 10-day injured list so the right-hander can “explore the optimal treatment and recovery options.”
The club said further details will be released at Carrasco and his family’s discretion.
Carrasco is just 4-6 this season but has been one of the AL’s steadiest pitchers in recent years.
