Indians lose to SD, Francona still sidelined

CLEVELAND (AP) — The San Diego Padres got another rare road win, beating Cleveland 6-2 last night as the Indians were again without manager Terry Francona.

Cory Spangenberg hit a two-run homer and Luis Perdomo won his third straight start for the Padres. He allowed one earned run in five innings and continued his turnaround after a rough start this season. The right-hander didn’t get his first win until his 11th start and is 4-1 since June 12th.

Indians manager Terry Francona remains hospitalized and missed his second straight game last night.

The 58-year-old Francona has been at the Cleveland Clinic since Tuesday. Doctors are running tests to determine what’s been making him feel light-headed.

This is Francona’s third hospital stay in the past month. It’s not clear when he will be discharged.
