Infrastructure bill includes $11B for Ohio

WASHINGTON – The $1 trillion public-works plan that President Joe Biden signed into law Monday includes the bill will deliver $11 billion to Ohio for roads, bridges, water lines, public transit and other projects.

The largest investment in national infrastructure in decades has money for roads, bridges, ports, rail transit, safe water, the power grid, broadband internet and more.

The bill provides Ohio $9.8 billion to repair, replace, and upgrade roads and bridges throughout the state over a five-year period, according to Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown.

“We’re delivering historic wins for Ohio that will create good-paying American jobs that cannot be shipped overseas, and that will help Ohio communities of all sizes, all over the state, thrive and grow,” Brown said in a statement.

The state is also eligible for more than $33 billion in competitive grant funding for highway and multi-modal projects, according to Sen. Rob Portman, lead Republican negotiator on the bipartisan team of lawmakers that fashioned the bill.

“Presidents and members of Congress of both parties have talked for decades about the need for significant investments to improve our nation’s dated infrastructure. Finally, Congress put partisanship aside and came together in a truly bipartisan effort to write legislation that will have a positive impact on the lives of all Americans,” Portman said in a statement released by his office.

Ohio is also projected to receive nearly $1.3 billion for transit agencies in addition to funds for electric vehicle chargers, improvements to broadband service, and airports.
