COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ally Disterhoft led five Iowa players in double figures as the Hawkeyes jumped out to an early lead and held on the beat Ohio State 81-74 in women’s basketball at Value City Arena Sunday.
Disterhoft poured in 24 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for Iowa (15-5, 3-3). Melissa Dixon added 16 points and Bethany Doolittle scored 14.
The Hawkeyes jumped out to a 33-16 lead midway through the first half and led 49-36 at the break.
Even though Ohio State (12-9, 2-3) outscored the Hawkeyes in the second half, they could not close the gap.
Ameryst Alston led the Buckeyes with 24 points. Matrina Ellerbe added 17, along with five rebounds and two blocked shots, and Raven Ferguson scoring 11 points
