Iowa man indicted in 2020 murders

COLUMBUS – An Iowa man has been indicted for the murders of two men in a triple shooting in 2020.

A Franklin County grand jury on Wednesday Indicted Tyrone Copeland, 29, of Waterloo, Iowa, on charges of aggravated murder in the deaths of Marquayvius McGill and Dominique Freeman in a shooting at a West Side apartment complex on August 20, 2020, Sgt. David Shimberg of the Columbus police Homicide Unit said.

Officers found McGill, 24, and Freeman, 21, suffering from fatal gunshots wounds in the area of 1010 Timberwood Drive West, Shimberg

A third man was shot in the foot in the incident.

An arrest warrant has been filed for Copeland, Shimberg said.
