COLUMBUS – The Clippers fell in game one of a three-game series to the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs, 3-1, Monday night at Huntington Park.
The ballgame was dominated by fantastic starting pitching from both sides, with the two teams combining for just two runs through seven innings.
The Iron Pigs’ Dean Anna broke the tie in the eighth with an RBI single on a line drive to right field and Adron Chambers scored on a wild pitch by reliever Ben Taylor.
James Hoyt (0-1), who allowed the go-ahead run, took the loss, leaving Clippers starter Sao-Ching Chiang with a no-decision after seven innings of solid work. Tom Windle (6-3) got the win for Lehigh Valey after Cole Irvin started out with six innings of shutout ball.
The two teams resume the series Tuesday at noon.
