IronPigs 7, Clippers 4

COLUMBUS – The IronPigs used two three-run innings in the third and fifth innings in route to a 7-4 victory over the Clippers to win their three-gamer series Thursday at Huntington Park.

Richie Shaffer hit a two-run home run in the second inning to start the scoring and Giovanny Urshella sent a two-run shot to left that plated Yandy Diaz in the eighth that cut the Pigs’ lead to 6-4 but Lehigh Valley added an insurance run in the ninth to hand the Clippers their seventh loss in eight games.

Columbus starter Travis Banwart (0-1) took the loss.

Charlotte comes to Huntington Park for a three-game series that begins Friday.
