It’s on! Voting begins today

COLUMBUS – Voters in Ohio have begun casting ballots in next month’s presidential election.

Early voting for the Nov. 8 election began at 8:00 a.m. Wednesday. Residents can vote absentee by mail or in person without having to give a reason.

County boards of elections statewide have received an estimated 1.09 million absentee ballot applications, according to the office of Secretary of State Jon Husted. At this same point in the 2012 presidential general election, Husted’s office says about 1.12 million absentee ballots had been requested.

There’s still time to request an absentee ballot. Boards must receive the applications by noon on Nov. 5.

Voters will be casting ballots for President and Vice President of the United States, U.S. Senator, members of Congress, state House and Senate, the State Board of Education, justices of the Ohio Supreme Court and judges of the Court of Appeals as well as 1,804 local issues, including levies for police and fire services and school funding.
