With the reopening, Jeni’s has offered to hire back all 40 workers who were offered the choice of working at the company’s shops or taking a severance package in early June, after a second listeria scare halted production, according to a report in The Columbus Dispatch.

“We are happy to be able to invite back kitchen production team members.” said Jeni’s CEO John Lowe, in a statement. “We struggled through, survived and are now building momentum.”

After the listeria scare, Jeni’s created and implemented a listeria-control program developed by Tom McGirty, who spent the past 23 years in various quality-assurance roles at T. Marzetti Co. While the production kitchen was closed, Jeni’s removed from its menu such flavors as Salty Caramel, Brambleberry Crisp, Black Cat Espresso and Goat Cheese with Red Cherries.

Salty Caramel — the company’s most-popular flavor — was relaunched in scoop shops on Friday.
