Jeni’s shops to reopen

COLUMBUS – Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams will reopen its scoop shops Saturday, though its Columbus manufacturing facility would remain closed after listeria was detected there earlier this month, according to a post on the company’s website.

Jeni’s shops nationwide were scheduled to open at 5:00 p.m. Saturday featuring a limited menu of ice cream, frozen yogurt, and sorbet, founder Jeni Britton Bauer  wrote in a statement on the company’s website.

The products, along with sundaes, floats, and sauces, were being made by Smith Dairy, Britton Bauer said.

Jeni’s closed its shops and manufacturing facility for the second time a week ago after listeria was detected at the Michigan Avenue processing facility.
