CLEVELAND (AP) — Browns coach Hue Jackson fell to 1-20 in two seasons following Sunday’s 17-14 loss to the New York Jets.
Jackson benched rookie quarterback DeShone Kizer for being ineffective and that may have been the coach’s best move.
His choice to go for a 4th down play and not kick a game-tying field goal backfired when the Jets drove 97 yards for a touchdown.
Backup quarterback Kevin Hogan completed 16 of 19 passes and threw two touchdown passes in relief of Kizer.
Jackson said he wants to watch the tape before naming a starter for next week’s game in Houston.
