Jingle Bell time

COLUMBUS, Ohio – One of the city’s most popular holiday-themed fundraising events will send about 4,000 runners and walkers through downtown streets, though the weather forecast suggests they6 may be dodging raindrops instead off snowflakes.

The Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis, a 5K (3.1 mile) run/walk for competitive and noncompetitive participants, steps off at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the corner of Nationwide Boulevard and High Street.

Day-of registration and festivities begin at 8:00 a.m.

A kids’ Snowflake Run is set for 9:30 a.m.

All proceeds benefit the Arthritis Foundation, Great Lakes Region, Central Ohio.

More than 50 million Americans — roughly one in five –have been diagnosed with arthritis, according to the foundation.

Eastbound Nationwide Boulevard will be closed between North High Street and North 4th Street from 8:45 a.m.-11:30 a.m.

Expect brief rolling closures along the following route through approximately 11:00 a.m.:

Nationwide Boulevard at North High Street
High Street, from Nationwide Boulevard south to E. Sycamore Street
E. Sycamore Street, east to South 3rd Street
S. 3rd Street, north to E. Livingston Avenue
E. Livingston Avenue, east to S. 4th Street
4th Street, north to Nationwide Boulevard
Nationwide Boulevard, west to N. High Street

Columbus Police officers will direct traffic across the route when possible.
