Kasich heads to NY after State of the State

MARIETTA – Governor John Kasich is wasting no time returning to the presidential campaign trail a day after sounding a unifying theme to Ohio and the nation in his annual State of the State address.

The Republican presidential hopeful is scheduled to campaign in the Bronx and Brooklyn on Thursday, ahead of New York’s April 219 primary.

“There’s no place like Ohio,” he told a crowd at the historic Peoples Bank Theatre in Marietta. “There’s no place like home.”

In the roughly hour-long speech, Kasich called for accelerating income-tax cuts, taking a hard look at congressional redistricting and promoting arts education in schools.

Democrats expressed skepticism at Kasich’s moderate tone, with the state Senate’s top Democrat saying, “Actions speak louder than words.”
