Knights 4, Clippers 1

CHARLOTTE – The Charlotte Knights beat the Clippers 4-1 on Thursday to earn a split of their four-game series at BB&T Park.

Reynaldo Lopez (6-4) struck-out 11 batters over 6 2/3 impressive innings, giving up only one run on on Tyler Naquin’s leadoff homer to left center field, which tied the score in the third inning.

The Knights scored two runs in the bottom of the inning on base hits by Cody Asche and Rymer Liriano and added a solo home run by Nicky Delmonico in the fifth.

Clippers starter Nick Pasquale (0-1) lasted 3 2/3 innings, giving up three runs on four hits to take the loss.

The Clippers’ eight-game road trip continues with a four-game series in Toledo starting Friday night.
