COLUMBUS – The Knights rallied to score three runs in the fifth inning on the way to a 6-4 win over the Clippers Wednesday night in Charlotte.
A fielding error by Knights second baseman Juan Perez allowed two run to score in the top of the first inning and Adam Rosales added a solo home run in the second to give the Clippers the early lead but a two-run double by Matt Skole tied the score at 3-3 in the fourth and Jacob May’s RBI double in the fifth gave the Knights the lead. Avisail Garcia added a two-run home run off starter and losing pitcher Michael Peoples (0-1).
Rosales brought a run home for Columbus with a double to left field in the sixth inning but the Charlotte bullpen retired nine of the last 11 Clippers batters to seal the win.
Thyago Vieira got his fourth save of the season and Michael Kopech (3-5) picked up the win for Charlotte.
The Knights can sweep the three-game series with a win Thursday night.
