Knights 7, Clippers 6

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Cody Asche hit a walk-off single with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning to propel the Charlotte Knights to a 7-6 win in game three of their four-game series against the Clippers at BB&T Ballpark in Charlotte on Wednesday.

The win snapped Charlotte’s five-game losing streak.

Trailing 5-3 heading into the ninth, the Clippers scored three times, Yandy Diaz coming around from second base on a single to right field by Chris Colabello to give Columbus a short-lived lead.

Kyle Crockett (1-2) pitched the ninth inning and gave up the game-tying and winning runs to take the loss.

Bobby Parnell (1-1. 9.82) allowed three runs in the top of the ninth inning, but earned the win after the Knights battled back.

Columbus and Charlotte conclude their four-game series Thursday night.
