COLUMBUS – The Clippers head to Durham with a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five Internal League Governor’s Cup finals after beating the Bulls 7-4 Wednesday night.
Catcher Ryan Lavarnway, playing in only his fourth game in a Columbus uniform, blasted a grand slam in the first inning and added a two-run shot in the fifth to lead the Clippers’ attack.
The homers accounted for two of the Clippers’ seven hits during the game and gave the 32-year-old Lawarnway a career-record six RBI.
Game 3 is Thursday night at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
