COLUMBUS – The Clippers’ quest for their 10th Governors’ Cup began with a 6-5 comeback victory over Indianapolis at Huntington Park in Game 1 of the finals Tuesday, 6-5, in front of a playoff record breaking crowd of 11,409.
Trailing 5-1, Columbus rallied for four runs in the 7th inning on an RBI double by Erik Gonzalez and a two-run single by Zach Walters, who then scored the tying run on a double by Adam Moore.
Audy Ciriaco led off the 8th by planting a fly ball into the left field seats for the winning run.
Joseph Colon struck out six batters and gave up no hits or runs in the 8th and 9th innings to get the win for the Clippers.
Game 2 of the best-of-five series is Wednesday night at Huntington Park.
