Latin Fest turns 20

COLUMBUS – Festival Latino, billed as the largest Latin event in Ohio, marks its 20th anniversary with two days of caliente food and music on the downtown riverfront.

CAPA presents FESTIVAL LATINO 2016: Sat. & Sun., August 13 & 14, 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. daily; Bicentennial Park (downtown riverfront); Admission: free.

The free celebration of family, community, and Latin American culture features local music performers, like Yumbambé , which fuses jazz harmony with Afro-Cuban drumming in a variety of rhythms, including meringue, calypso, bembe, cha cha, samba, and bossa nova; and internationally-known artists like Los Horóscopos de Durango, pioneers of Durango and “the tamborazo” – a combination of tuba, drums, and saxophone – and Grupo Niche, famous for uptempo dance music as well as slower-paced romantic numbers and recognized as Latin America’s most successful salsa group.
