Library growth means service interruption

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Columbus library system is expanding but that will mean some customers will not be able to use some of the library’s online services for a few days.

Library officials say the Bexley Public Library, London Public Library and Upper Arlington Public Library will join the make their debuts in the Central Library Consortium catalog by April 9. The upgrade will begin at 9:00 p.m. April 3 and will be concluded by 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, when the total number of libraries in the consortium will have grown to 14.

During this period of time, library customers will still be able to:

Get a library card.
Check out items (they will need to bring a library card or library card number – staff will not be able to look them up.)
Use their library card to access public computers.
Use Hoopla, Zinio, digital resources and eBooks.

During the upgrade, some features will not be accessible:

My Account will not be available on columbuslibrary.org or CML’s Mobile App.
Customers can search the catalog on columbuslibrary.org and CML’s Mobile App but cannot reserve or check availability of items.
No self-checkout will be available. Library staff will check out all books.
Due dates will be extended.

The library’s services should be back to normal on Wednesday, April 9, when the upgrade is complete.

With the expansion, customers of consortium member libraries will have access to 4.5 million books, audiobooks, CDs and DVDs with their library cards.

Formed in 1988, the Central Library Consortium is a network of library systems whose catalogs are accessible by all members.
