Life for 3rd defendant ion burned woman case

ZANESVILLE, Ohio (AP) – The third and final defendant in the death of a severely burned woman found wailing along an eastern Ohio road has been sentenced to life in prison without parole.

A judge sentenced Katrina Culberson, 22, on Wednesday in Zanesville, following the jury’s recommendation.

The Zanesville “Times Recorder” reports Culberson tearfully apologized in court to relatives of 29-year-old Celeste Fronsman, the Canton woman who was set on fire and abandoned in Muskingum County in August 2012.

Culberson and another woman pleaded guilty to avoid the death penalty. Co-defendant LaFonse Dixon Jr. was convicted at trial.

Culberson and Dixon were each sentenced to life in prison plus 11 years for kidnapping. Fellow defendant Monica Washington was sentenced to life with parole possible after 25 years.

The county prosecutor says justice was served.
