COLUMBUS, Ohio – A 32-year-old Jackson man has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for kidnapping a 6-year-old girl from her home, raping her and abandoning her in a cemetery.
Zachary Dunn was found guilty in April of three counts of kidnapping with sexual motivation specifications, one count of abduction, one count of rape, two counts of gross sexual imposition, and one count of felonious assault.

Jackson County Common Pleas Court Judge Christopher Regan on Thursday sentenced Dunn to life in prison without parole and classified him as a Tier III sex offender.
“Zachary Dunn is a callous child predator who still shows no genuine remorse for the terrible acts he committed against a defenseless six-year-old girl, and he is most deserving of nothing less than the maximum possible punishment that was handed down today,” said Prosecuting Attorney Justin Lovett.
A message seeking comment was left Thursday with Dunn’s attorney.
Dunn was arrested in July 2013 after kidnapping the girl from her Jackson home, sexually assaulting her and abandoned her in a Liberty Township cemetery. She managed to walk to a nearby home to get help, according to the office of Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine, whose office assisted in the investigation and prosecution.
