COLUMBUS, Ohio – A lightning strike is being blamed for a power outage that left thousands of people in the Gahanna area sweating in the dark overnight.
According to the city’s website, the power went off at approximately 4:30 p.m. Wednesday because of a failed transformer, and at least 5,000 customers were affected.
The utility’s Twitter feet said “lightning damaged a piece of equipment in an area substation.”
Power was restored sometime early Thursday morning.
