COLUMBUS – Reminiscent of the Like the ice-bucket challenge of a few years ago, which raised funds for ALS research, a Columbus DJ has started a similar social media campaign to support a local organization supplying food to hospital workers during the coronavirus pandemic.
Josh Staley and his team at Josh Staley Productions have launched the “Lunch Break Lip Sync Challenge.”
Staley has sent out a request on Facebook and Instagram inviting the public to post a video of them lip-syncing to their favorite song and donate $5 to Feed OUR Frontline, a non-profit organized by a registered nurse at Grant Medical Center.
“In the midst of this crisis, I am inspired by humanity and watching the community support each other in times of need. I am hoping that the lunch-break lip-sync kicks off and as a community we can say thank you to those helping to protect everyone,” he said.
Staley says participants can skip the video all together and make a larger donation.
Donations will go to ordering food from local restaurants to be delivered to hospitals around Columbus.
Staley says the challenge will continue until the crisis is over “and the city has returned to normal.”
