Long Street closes Monday

COLUMBUS, Ohio – A key downtown bridge will close for one week as part of the I-70/I-71 Crossroads project.

The E. Long Street bridge will close to motorists between Jefferson Avenue, at St. Paul AME Church, and Hamilton Avenue beginning Monday at 7:00 a.m. so AEP crews can install new power lines along the bridge structure, Ohio Department of Transportation spokeswoman Nancy Burton said.

Pedestrian access will be maintained and bicyclists will be able to walk their bikes across the bridge.

A detour using E. Broad Street will be posted and Burton says motorists will be able to access the King-Lincoln neighborhood by taking E. Broad Street to N. 17th Street.

The bridge is expected to reopen by Saturday, March 29, Burton said.
