Young returns with “chip on shoulder”

COLUMBUS – Star defensive end Chase Young will be back for the Buckeyes against Penn State Saturday as a motivated man.

Young, who served a two-game suspension, posted on social media this week that “chip on my shoulder” has only gotten bigger. Young was sidelined by the NCAA for accepting a personal loan from someone he described as a family friend.

Ohio State head coach Ryan Day may hope fans don’t let themselves get distracted by all of the cable TV pregame shows going on outside Ohio Stadium this Saturday morning and remember to go inside and cheer on the No. 2 Buckeyes during their game against No. 8 Penn State.

“For so many reasons, this is the biggest one of the year and we need everybody in the seats, make it really loud,” Day said earlier this week.

All three of the Big Ten Conference’s television providers will broadcast their shows in and around Ohio Stadium prior to the kickoff of the game which will decide the winner of the Big Ten East and its representative to the conference championship game in Indianapolis Dec. 7.

Fox’s Big Noon Kickoff, featuring former Ohio State coach Urban Meyer, will be live and from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 near the Victory Bell tower at Ohio Stadium and from 11:00 a.m. until noon in the southwest corner of the field. Fox will also carry the game live.

ESPN’s College GameDay will originate at 9:00 a.m. from the south lawn area in front of St. John Arena.

BTN Tailgate will broadcast adjacent to the southeast Victory Bell tower at Ohio Stadium along the walkway to the RPAC beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Although the Nittany Lions’ defense has been its strongest suit so far, Day believes the offense, led by quarterback Sean Clifford and K.J. Hamler is capable of scoring enough to give Ohio State serious concerns.

“You know, they’re going to do a lot of checking at the line of scrimmage and communicating. Every time Penn State has the ball, we need [the fans] to be as loud as they can,” Day said.

Penn State’s defense has struggled in its last two games and coach James Franklin says the Buckeyes may be the best team he’s coached against.

The last three games between the two teams have been decided by a total of five points. This is the 10th time in the 35-game series that the Ohio State-Penn State game features two Top 10-ranked teams.

The OSU Board of Trustees Thursday voted to keep football ticket prices unchanged for the 2020 season.

Season tickets would remain $702 for reserved seats and $851 for box seats. The most expensive single-game ticket will be for the Nov. 28 game against , $220 for a reserved and $245 for a box seat.
