CLEVELAND (AP) — Kevin Love has resumed non-contact basketball activities, which could be the final step before the Cavaliers get their starting power forward back in these NBA Finals.
Love was on the floor for basketball drills Thursday. Cavs coach Tyronn Lue says it takes 24 hours after that workout before any determination can be made on Love’s status.
Love missed Cleveland’s 120-90 win over Golden State in Game 3 on Wednesday night because of a concussion. He was hurt in Game 2 of the series on Sunday and had to complete a number of steps mandated by the NBA concussion protocol before he could be cleared to play again.
The last of those steps is non-contact basketball workouts, which Love was doing in the open portion of Cleveland’s Thursday practice.
With Game 3 turning into another rout, viewership is down from last year’s much closer contest.
The Cavs’ victory averaged nearly 16.5 million viewers on ABC. That’s down about 12 percent from the almost 18.8 million for Game 3 between the same teams in 2015, when the Cavaliers won 96-91 to take a 2-1 series lead.
ESPN said Thursday that the audience was still the second largest for a Game 3 since the NBA Finals moved to ABC in 2003, behind only last season’s matchup.
