COLUMBUS – A man who confessed to killing his girlfriend in North Linden Friday morning is facing a murder charge.
Police say Marcos Solis, 32, called 911 just before 10:00 a.m. and told the dispatcher that he had shot his girlfriend inside a home in the 1600 block of Genessee Avenue.
Officers found Deborah Saenz, 32, shot several times and she died about an hour later at Grant Medical Center, Homicide Unit Sgt. Eric Pilya said.
Solis was taken to police headquarters and charged with murder.
This was the 58th homicide of 2019 in Columbus.
A 20-year-old man who died almost two days after being shot on an East Side street was the city’s 59th homicide victim of the year.
Officers responding to a report of a shooting in the 5000 block of E. Livingston Avenue at approximately 7:42 p.m. Thursday found Tyler Jones lying in front of a retail strip mall suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, detectives said.
He died at 3:57 p.m. Sunday.
The investigation continues.
