COLUMBUS – A man was arrested after police say he stole his ex-girlfriend’s SUV with her three children inside, prompting an hours-long search and the issuing of an Amber Alert in Columbus Wednesday afternoon.
Dustin Ray was arrested by Columbus SWAT officers on Myrtle Avenue at 4:48 p.m. and the children, ages 2, 4 and 6, were found safe, according to a report by WBNS 10-TV.
Police say Ray, 31, stole the Chevy Suburban from the Marathon gas station at 1800 E. Hudson Street Wednesday afternoon with the children inside and he eluded police for hours.
Ray is scheduled to be arraigned on misdemeanor charges of domestic violence and assault and three felony charges of abduction.
