COLUMBUS, Ohio – A man is in jail on felonious assault charges after exchanging gunshots with Columbus police narcotics officers in Franklinton Wednesday night.

Narcotics Bureau investigators were executing a search warrant at 204 Avondale Avenue just after 9:15 p.m. when Scott Dixon allegedly opened fire on them, police spokesman Sgt. Rich Weiner said..
Dixon, 19, fired at officers at the rear of the home as others entered at the front, Weiner said. One officer returned fire.
No injuries were reported.
Weiner says several bullet strikes were found in a fence where officers had been positioned and another bullet hole was found in their van.
Guns and narcotics were recovered from the residence, Weiner says.
Dixon has been charged with three counts of felonious assault.
The incident will be investigated by the Critical Incident Response Team, made up of specially trained investigators from the Homicide Unit, and the findings will be forwarded to the Firearms/Police-Involved Death Review Board, Weiner said.
