COLUMBUS – Columbus police say a registered sex offender has been arrested for allegedly groping an 11-year-old boy at Comfest Saturday night.
Todd Gavorcik, 36, was charged with gross sexual imposition involving a victim under age 13, a felony, said Sgt. Dennis Fox of the Columbus Division of Police Sexual Assault Unit.
Fox says the boy was walking with his family at Comfest in Goodale Park at approximately 10:00 p.m. when Gavorcik walked by him in the opposite direction and grabbed the boy’s groin.
The boy’s sister screamed and Gavorcik took off running but Fox says the victim’s parents, along with Special Duty police officers working the festival, chased Gavorcik who was tackled by a bystander who held him until officers arrived.
