Man arrested in Arkansas for 2017 murder

COLUMBUS – A South Linden man who was one of two people being sought in connection with a deadly shooting outside a Northeast Side bar in 2017.

Kailan Ellison, whose last known address was on Gladston Avenue, was arrested in Arkansas last Wednesday by U.S. Marshals and questioned by Columbus Homicide Unit detectives, Columbus police said. Ellison, 21, was charged with murder in the death of Martise Maddox-Suddith in a parking lot near the Grand Champion North Bar, 2477 E. Dublin-Granville Road on Nov. 19, 2017, homicide investigators said.

Police say they investigating the involvement of a second person of interest.

Maddox-Suddith, 24, was found in the parking area just east of the bar by an officer responding to a report of a shooting. Columbus paramedics arrived and began first aid but Maddox-Suddith died at the scene, the 188th victim of that record year for murders in Columbus police said.
