COLUMBUS – A 30-year-old man has been charged with assaulting a Chase Bank worker after telling her he wanted to rent a safe-deposit box.
Billy Anderson (above), whose address was the Faith Mission on 6th Street, was charged with rape, kidnapping and robbery after police say he asked the 30-year-old woman to show him safety-deposit boxes and then attacked her Friday afternoon.
WBNS 10-TV reports the woman escorted the man into the bank’s vault inside its building at 100 E. Broad Street shortly after 4:40 p.m. where she told police he attacked and sexually assaulted her.
Anderson then ran out of the bank. Bank employees then chased after him when the victim alerted her co-workers about what happened.
Police were able to capture the suspect at N. 3rd and Gay Streets.
The victim was transported to Grant Hospital where she was treated and released.
Anderson was taken to the Franklin County Jail.
