Man charged in violent assault on former girlfriend

COLUMBUS – A 35-year-old East Side woman is expected to recover after being doused with bleach, pistol-whipped and shot during an argument with her former live-in boyfriend early Friday.

Police say Alicia Briley walked into her apartment on Chatford Drive at 2:30 a.m. to find Antonion Parks sitting there, Sgt. Doug Jones of the Felony Assault Unit said.

As the two argued over their previous relationship, Jones says Parks grabbed a bottle of bleach and began pouring it on Briley, then hit her with a handgun several times in the arm before pointing the gun at her, telling her “I will show you how crazy I am.”

Parks, 30, then allegedly fired one shot at Briley, striking her once in the shoulder, Jones said.

Parks drove Briley to an address on Hilock Road where he had a woman who lived there drive Briley to the hospital.

While en route, Jones says Briley flagged down a Columbus Division of Fire paramedic and was taken to Grant Hospital in stable condition. She is expected to survive her injuries, Jones said.

Parks was arrested and charged with felonious assault.

Jones says the two had previously lived together for four months.
