COLUMBUS – Police say a Northeast Side man shot his own father to death during an argument Thursday night.
Homicide investigators say Joseph Taylor Shine-Johnson, 28, was arguing with his 59-year-old father, Joseph Bythewood, inside Shine-Johnson’s Grasmere Avenue home at approximately 9:00 p.m. when Shine-Johnson shot the older man in the upper body and left the scene.
Bythewood was taken to Grant Medical Center where he was pronounced dead a short time later and Shine-Johnson was arrested at a former residence address without incident and charged with murder.
This was the 68th homicide of the year in Columbus.
