Man charged with killing ex-girlfriend, man in West Side home

COLUMBUS – A Ross County man wanted for shooting his ex-girlfriend and another man to death inside a West Side home early Sunday was arrested in Fayette County later the same day, Columbus police said.

Police say John Henry, 48, of Clarksburg shot Nicole Caudill and Timothy Carney in the basement of a home on Hague Avenue.

Officers responding to a reported shooting at 1:34 a.m. found Caudill, 43, and Carney, 53, in the basement of the home, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Emergency medical responders pronounced them dead at the scene.

Police say they apprehended John Henry in nearby Fayette County and charged him with two counts of murder.

Investigators say Caudill and Henry had been linked romantically and the shooting was the result of a domestic situation between them, said Homicide Unit Sgt. Jeff Strayer. He says Caudill was not involved in the dispute and was not originally a target,

Police say there were other people inside the residence and they are being questioned about what happened.
